Dr Jackson Friedman, D.O.

Dr Jackson Friedman, D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy) is a physician board-certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine, specializing in Osteopathic Manual Medicine, Holistic and Preventive Health Care for adults, children, and infants. His approach is non-intrusive and based on traditional osteopathy. Osteopathy is a very conservative treatment without the side effects of drugs, or the risks inherent in surgery. Dr Friedman studied cranio-sacral therapy at the same time as Dr Joerg Paula. He then went to the mainland to get his D.O. before returning to practice medicine in Kula, Maui. D.O. licensure in the US is equivalent to an M.D.

Jackson Friedman, D.O. believes in the effectiveness of appropriately applied touch to enhance the body's innate healing capabilities. This holistic approach to wellness is gentle and non-intrusive, yet deep and effective. He is intrigued with the process of healing and has used his hands, heart, and mind to support wellness since 1979. To assess the cause of your symptoms, Dr Friedman uses palpation as well as the most current medical knowledge and technologies. In his treatments, he finds and accentuates areas that function well and extrapolates that experience into restricted tissue. Dr Friedman helps you to remember how "normal" feels. Once reminded, the body knows best how to restore optimal health. This occurs via sensory-motor feedback loops between mind and body whose reflexes instigate your therapeutic process. Dr Friedman utilizes an array of non intrusive techniques based on traditional osteopathic practice, that influence nerves, muscles, fascia, joints, vasculature, and lymphatics. Restoration of optimal muscle tone and neuromuscular function are common results leading to increased range of motion, greater ease and comfort, improved posture, alleviation of pain, and enhanced well-being.

Dr Friedman is a graduate of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and the rotating medical internship at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine. He completed his residency in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manual Medicine at North Shore University Plainview Hospital. He constantly enriches his skills by taking continuing education courses with The Cranial Academy, The Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation, The American Academy of Osteopathy, and the Barral Institute for Visceral Manipulation and Biodynamics. Dr Friedman is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Osteopathy, the Cranial Academy, and the Osteopathic International Alliance. Most importantly, Dr Jackson Friedman loves his work.

Treatments

The initial visit is about 1.5 hours and a follow-up is about an hour depending on what's needed. The body and mind can absorb only so much at a time. Seeds are sown during the session. The treatment continues for about 3 days after the session, which is a good time to evaluate results. Moderate to severe problems may require weekly visits for about four weeks, then bi-weekly, then monthly, and eventually as needed. Some moderate to severe cases clear up in just a few treatments. Others take longer.

A goal of each treatment is to open communication between the body's various systems. Ever deepening levels of these open and receptive states support health and healing from within. This results in alive and vibrant feelings of peace.
